Racers take tough 3-0 loss at SIU

The Murray State women's volleyball team took a hard-fought 3-0 loss at Southern Illinois tonight. Game scores were 30-20, 30-26, 30-20.
Sophomore outside hitter Allie Hunt had a match-high 15 kills, while senior outside hitter Kimberly Bunnage and sophomore middle blocker Katie Kemezys had eight kills apiece.
Sophomore outside hitter Holly Jansen had a team-high five blocks, while Kemezys and senior outside hitter Danielle Sutterer had three blocks each for Murray State (4-13).
Sophomore libero Julie Lashley had a match-high 18 digs, while Bunnage had 13. Senior setter Casandra Ersel handed out 29 assists and served up a co-match-high two aces.
For Southern Illinois (7-15), Haley Hann had 13 kills, while Jene' Pulliam added 12 and Carrie Shephard had 10. Erica Miller had 12 digs, while Shephard had six blocks. Holly Marita handed out 45 assists, while Marissa Washington and Monica Laird had two aces apiece.
Murray State returns home to face Ohio Valley Conference opponent Tennessee Tech on Friday at 7 p.m. at MSU's Racer Arena.
