Racers beat Kentucky on tie-breaker

Senior Robert Purdy led all shooters with an aggregate score (smallbore and air rifle scores combined) of 1169 out of a possible 1200, having shot a 584 out of a possible 600 in smallbore and a 585 out of a possible 600 in air rifle. He scored a 199, one point short of a perfect score, in the prone round of smallbore.
Freshman Cameron Hicks fired an aggregate of 1166, with a 588 in smallbore and a 578 in air rifle. Hicks fired a 199 in the kneeling portion and a 198 in the prone portion of smallbore. Sophomore Josiah Brooks shot an 1145, with a 570 in smallbore and a 575 in air rifle, having fired a 199 in the prone portion of smallbore, while junior Alex Culbertson shot an 1137, with a 563 in smallbore and a 574 in air rifle.
For Kentucky, Vicki Goss had an 1157, with a 580 in smallbore and a 577 in air rifle, while Ray Geyer had an 1156, with a 574 in smallbore and a 582 in air rifle. Jeff Hamburg shot a 575 in smallbore, while Eric Surber fired a 573. Chris Boggs shot a 582 in air rifle, while Kristi Crenwelge had a 574.
Murray State next competes on Nov. 22, when the Racers host defending NCAA champion Alaska-Fairbanks at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range at MSU's Roy Stewart Stadium.
