Racers open home, OVC play with 7-0 win over Tennessee State

The Murray State women's tennis team opened its home schedule as well as its Ohio Valley Conference slate with a 7-0 blanking of Tennessee State this afternoon. In the match, Murray State (3-3, 1-0 OVC) ceded only one game in singles play and two games in doubles play.
In singles play, Melissa Spencer won at No. 1 singles over Danette Rochel 6-0, 6-0, while Jaclyn Leeper won at No. 2 singles over Meloney Whiting 6-0, 6-0. Rachael Lask won at No. 3 singles over Montina Goldtheate 6-0, 6-0, while Casady Pruitt won at No. 4 singles over Kiamesha Wilson 6-0, 6-0, and Christina Hall won at No. 5 singles over Montere Fair 6-1, 6-0. Tami McQueen won at No. 6 singles by default.
In doubles play, Leeper and Spencer teamed at No. 1 doubles to win over Goldtheate and Rochel 8-2 in the eight-game pro set, while Lask and sister Anna Lask won at No. 2 doubles over Whiting and Wilson 8-0. Pruitt and Jennifer Ward won at No. 3 doubles by default. MSU won the doubles point 3-0.
The Racers will next play three matches in three days in Biloxi Miss., taking on Georgia Southern on Saturday, Centenary on Sunday and Southern Mississippi on Monday.
