Racers fall to UALR 4-3 in Memphis

Murray State revamped its singles lineup to rest two of its top three singles players, and the Racers were able to battle strongly, falling to Arkansas-Little Rock 4-3 in Memphis, Tenn., this morning.
No. 1 singles player Melissa Spencer and No. 3 singles player Anna Lask were rested in today's match, and are expected to rejoin the singles lineup in MSU's Ohio Valley Conference match against Southeast Missouri on Thursday. Both played in doubles matches this morning.
In singles play, Jaclyn Leeper won at No. 1 singles over Cecilia Poveda 6-4, 6-4, while Jennifer Ward won at No. 2 singles over Jenna Hirdle 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, her eighth straight singles win.
Rachael Lask fell at No. 3 singles to Bindiya Parekh 7-5, 6-3, while Casady Pruitt lost at No. 4 singles to Ellie Vicary 6-4, 6-2. Christina Hall fell in split sets at No. 5 singles to Outi Jarvinen 1-6, 7-5, 6-3, while Tami McQueen lost at No. 6 singles to Rosario Negrete 6-0, 6-4.
In doubles play, the Lasks won at No. 1 doubles over Poveda and Katie Prokop 8-4 in the eight-game pro set, while Leeper and Spencer won at No. 2 doubles over Hirdle and Parekh 8-3 and Pruitt and Ward won at No. 3 doubles over Vicary and Vanessa Nieto 8-2.
Pruitt and Ward improved to 20-5 in doubles play, 11-2 in dual matches, while Anna and Rachael Lask improved to 19-8 in doubles play, 10-4 in dual matches. (MSU Women's Tennis Stats)
Murray State (9-5, 1-0 OVC) returns home to resume its OVC schedule, hosting Southeast Missouri on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts.
