Racers blank SEMO 7-0 in OVC play

The Murray State women's tennis team wasted little time in dispatching Ohio Valley Conference rival Southeast Missouri this afternoon, ceding only one game in the 7-0 shutout at MSU's Purcell Tennis Courts.
Murray State (10-5, 2-0 OVC) will visit Austin Peay (3-12, 0-2 OVC) in an OVC match tomorrow (Friday) at 2:30 p.m.
In singles play this afternoon, Melissa Spencer won at No. 1 singles over Kay Ehlke 6-0, 6-0, while Jennifer Ward won at No. 2 singles over Kimmy Anderson 6-0, 6-0. Rachael Lask won at No. 3 singles over Kelly Mitchell 6-0, 6-0, while Christina Hall won at No. 4 singles over Krista Hoebing 6-1, 6-0, and Tami McQueen won at No. 5 singles over Beckie Prendergast 6-0, 6-0. Casady Pruitt won at No. 6 singles by default.
In doubles play, Spencer and Jaclyn Leeper won at No. 1 doubles 8-0 in the eight-game pro set, while Lask and Anna Lask won at No. 2 doubles 8-0. Pruitt and Ward won at No. 3 doubles by default. MSU won the doubles point 3-0.
Murray State's next home match will be on Tuesday, when the Racers host OVC rival Tennessee-Martin at 2:30 p.m. at the Purcell Tennis Courts.
