Racers Shut Out Jacksonville State

Murray State's women's tennis team remained unbeaten in Ohio Valley Conference play, beating Jacksonville State 7-0 Saturday at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts in Murray.
Winners of the last three OVC championships, Murray State (16-5, 8-0 OVC) got off to a solid start, sweeping the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
Melissa Spencer and Jaclyn Leeper defeated JSU's Gurannak and Dushner 8-2 at No. 1 singles, while Anna Lask and Rachael Lask teamed up for an 8-3 win over Gorman and Abbey at No. 2 and Jennifer Ward and Casady Pruitt notched the No. 3 win, 8-3, over Higgs and Soares.
At No. 1 singles, Spencer, the reigning OVC Player of the Week, moved to 8-0 in OVC play by defeating Gurkannak 6-3, 6-1. Leeper claimed the No. 2 singles win with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Gorman. At No. 3 singles, Anna Lask defeated Dushner 7-6, 6-3, and at No. 4 Ward beat JSU's Abbey 6-1, 6-1.
Rachael Lask claimed the No. 5 singles win, 6-3, 6-3 over Higgs, while Pruitt closed out the singles with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Collins at No. 6.
The Racers close out the regular-season with the conclusion of the Tennessee-Martin match on Monday at 4 p.m. prior to the OVC Championship on April 16-18.
