Spencer earns second straight OVC Player of the Week honor

Senior Melissa Spencer earned her second straight Ohio Valley Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor, according to a release issued by the league office today.

Last week, Spencer won all four of her singles matches at No. 1 singles and all four of her doubles matches at No. 1 doubles with partner Jaclyn Leeper. Her wins helped the Racers (17-5, 9-0 OVC) to eight straight wins as they enter the OVC Championship, to be played April 16-18 at the Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville, Tenn.

Spencer enters the OVC Championship Tournament this weekend with a 9-0 OVC singles record. Her last conference singles loss came in April 2002.

The Roswell, Ga., native ranks seventh on the MSU career combined (singles and doubles) wins list with 165 wins in her four years at Murray State. She is seventh in career singles (84) and career doubles (81).
