The Murray State women's tennis team will look to defend their 2003 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament title as the No. 1 seed in the 2004 edition and will face No. 8-seeded Morehead State in the first round on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville.
Murray State (17-5, 9-0 OVC) enters Friday's action having won the last three OVC Tournament titles and five overall. The Racers posted shut-out victories in five of their nine OVC matches in 2004 and never lost more than two points in any of their best-of-seven head-to-head matches.
Overall, MSU is on an eight-match winning streak entering the week, while in their previous match-up with Morehead State on April 3, the Racers earned a 6-1 road win.
Head coach Connie Keasling, now in her 15th season at the helm of the Racer tennis program, is pleased with the way her team is playing heading into this week's conference tournament.
"We're really looking forward to the tournament," Keasling said. "We're playing pretty well right now, and we're excited about going for another title. That's our only focus right now. The only thing we're concerned with is winning this tournament."
