Racers breeze past Morehead State in OVC Championship quarterfinals

The top-seeded Murray State women's tennis team dispatched No. 8 Morehead State in the quarterfinal round of the Ohio Valley Conference Championships this afternoon, ceding only five games in the five matches played en route to the 4-0 win. The tournament is being played at the Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville, Tenn.
The Racers (18-5) -- the three-time defending OVC champion -- will next take on fourth-seeded Tennessee-Martin tomorrow (Saturday) at 4 p.m.
MSU won the doubles point 2-0, as Anna Lask and Rachael Lask won at No. 2 doubles over Ariana Gracia-Medrano and Sheenagh Stewart 8-2 in the eight-game pro set, while Casady Pruitt and Jennifer Ward won at No. 3 doubles over Heidi Mahoney and Georgia Vanos 8-0.
In singles play, Ward won at No. 4 singles over Vanos 6-1, 6-1, while Rachael Lask won at No. 5 singles over Gracia-Medrano 6-1, 6-0, and Pruitt won at No. 6 singles over Mahoney 6-0, 6-0.
