Racers Keep Rolling With Dominating Win Over OVC Foe Samford

The Murray State women's tennis team continued its dominating run through Ohio Valley Conference competition with a 6-1 win over Samford today at the Purcell Tennis Courts.
In singles action, senior Melissa Spencer defeated SU's Emily Nunnally 6-3, 6-3 in No. 1 singles, while junior Jaclyn Leeper dispatched of Katie Crawford 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2 singles. In No. 3 singles, Racer freshman Anna Lask knocked off Emily White 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, while sister Rachael Lask earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jen Pharr in No. 5 singles. MSU freshman Casady Pruitt won in No. 6 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Bethany Benson, while Jennifer Ward fell in No. 4 singles 1-6, 3-6 to SU's Sarah McKey.
MSU (15-5, 7-0 OVC), winners of the last three OVC championships, swept through the doubles led by the combination of Spencer and Leeper in No. 1 doubles with an 8-6 win over Nunnally and Crawford. In No. 2 doubles, the combo of sisters Anna and Rachael Lask dispatched of McKey and White 8-5, while MSU's Pruitt and Ward teamed for an 8-3 win over Benson and Pharr in No. 3 doubles.
The Racers close out their full load of competition this week as they host Jacksonville State on Saturday at 9 a.m. The conclusion of the Tennessee-Martin match set for Monday at 4 p.m. will be the final regular-season competition prior to the OVC Championship on April 16-18.
