Lady Racers Finish Sixth At 2004 OVC Outdoor Championships

The Murray State women's 4x400-meter relay team ran to a first-place finish to lead the Lady Racers to sixth place overall at the 2004 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships at Samford University's Seibert Stadium in Birmingham, Ala.
Overall, the Lady Racers' relay team won the 4x400 with a time of 3 minutes, 49.2 seconds as MSU scored 58 points over the two days. Southeast Missouri won the team title with 205 points, while Eastern Illinois was second with 101 points. Samford was third in the field of 10 teams with 96 points.
Senior sprinter Joan Lettman had the highest finish of the day for an individual with a second-place time of 54.83 seconds in the 400-meter dash and eight points. The native of Toronto, Ontario has already clinched a spot in the 400 at the NCAA Mid-East Regionals on May 28-29 at LSU (Baton Rouge, La.).
MSU's 4x100-meter relay team also had a strong day with a second-place finish and eight points with a time of 46.64 seconds.
This is the final event of the 2004 season for the full MSU track and field team.
