Eastern Kentucky was able to maintain a double-digit lead throughout the rest of the game.
"Eastern Kentucky did a great job of blocking out on us," said MSU head coach Joi Felton. "We didn't do a good job of rebounding, and that really hurt us."
Murray State was led by senior guard Rebecca Remington, who had 14 points and a co-team-high seven rebounds. Freshman guard Shaleea Petty added 11 points, five rebounds and a team-high five assists, while sophomore guard Ashley Hayes had 10 points.
