Racers finish a close second to host Tennessee-Martin

Tennessee-Martin had the first-, third- and fifth-place finishers, while Murray State had the second-, fourth-, sixth- and seventh-place finishers. UTM had the ninth- and 11th-place finishers to round out its scoring, while the Racers had the 12th-place runner.
The closest position that would have tied the score came at the fifth- and sixth-place finishers. Murray State's Tommy Moore placed sixth, just three seconds behind fifth-place Michael Koszela of Tennessee-Martin. If their positions had been reversed, the score would have been tied 30-30.
For Murray State, John Gorey placed second in the 23-runner race, finishing the course in 22 minutes, 27 seconds, while Mitch Scharber was fourth at 23:40, just seven seconds behind third. Moore was sixth at 23:54, while Anthony Colletti-Brown was seventh at 23:56 and Melvin Finley was 12th at 24:49.
Also running for Murray State were Frankie Ramos, who placed 15th at 26:27, and Nathan Clinkenbeard, who placed 17th at 27:10.
Murray State next competes on Oct. 15 at the Evansville Invitational.
