Former MSU track coach Cornell to be inducted into Hall of Fame

As a member of the 2005 Hall of Fame Class, Cornell enters the prestigious group along with 12 other inductees at the induction ceremony at the USTFCCCA National Convention held at the Sawgrass Mariott in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
The USTFCCCA Hall of Fame has been in existence since 1995 and currently houses some 96 of the greatest coaching names in track and field and cross country history. Members are chosen to the Hall of Fame on the basis of their successful lifetime careers as well as significant contributions to the sports of track and field and cross country as a whole.
Cornell was named Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year in 1980 (men's indoor track and field) and 1981 (men's cross country). Under Cornell, Murray State produced 22 NCAA All-Americans, five OVC Athletes of the Year and seven Olympians.
Cornell was inducted to the Murray State Athletics Hall of Fame as part of a four-member Class of 1994.
