The Murray State men's cross country team placed ninth at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships, held today at Charleston, Ill.

John Gorey led the MSU runners by covering the 8-kilometer (5-mile) course in a time of 26 minutes, 52.73 seconds.

Mitch Sharber was 49th with a time of 27:56.53, while Tommy Moore was 52nd at 28:02.46. Anthony Collotti-Brown was 57th at 28:33.15, while Melvin Finleywas 69th at 30:05.68 and Frankie Ramos was 71st at 31:06.77.

Host Eastern Illinois won the meet with 34 points, followed by Eastern Kentucky at 41, Morehead State at 99, Jacksonville State at 100, Samford at 115, Southeast Missouri at 131, Austin Peay at 181, Tennessee Tech at 249, Murray State at 252, Tennessee-Martin at 276 and Tennessee State at 344.

The OVC Championships is the final meet of the season for the Racers.
