Racers fall at Tennessee-Martin 3-1, prepare for OVC showdown at APSU

The loss dropped MSU to 7-15, 5-10 OVC, tying the Racers with Austin Peay in the OVC standings. Unless Samford wins both of its remaining matches, the winner of Saturday's MSU-APSU match will gain the sixth and final berth into the OVC post-season tournament. If Samford does win at Southeast Missouri on Friday and at Eastern Illinois on Saturday, it will gain the No. 6 seed.
At Tennessee-Martin tonight, Murray State was led by junior middle blocker Katie Kemezys, who had 17 kills and hit .271. Junior middle blocker Holly Jansen added 13 kills, while freshman outside hitter Lisa Forchee had 10.
Kemezys and Jansen each had a team-high four blocks, while junior outside hitter Allie Hunt and freshman setter Ashley Meagher had two apiece. Meagher also had a match-high 44 assists.
Defensively, freshman outside hitter Alyssa Groves repelled a match-high 19 digs, while freshman libero Heather Norris had 16. Junior outside hitter Julie Lashley had 12 digs, while Hunt and Meagher had 11 apiece. Sophomore middle blocker Victoria Wilson had one kills in two attacks for a .500 percentage. Lashley also served a team-high two aces for MSU.
For the Skyhawks (5-28, 3-12 OVC), Rebecca Palmer had a match-high 18 kills, while Jamie Hollins had 16 and Dimphy Sasse had 10. Sasse hit .450 for the match, while Palmer hit .395 and Hollins hit .342.
Tammy Konitzer had 17 digs for UTM, while Shelby Knose had 13, Randi Wooldridge had 12, Morgan Kilpatrick had 11 and Hollins had 10.
Sarah Jett had a match-high seven blocks, while Sasse and Kathryn Sprague each had four. Knose served up three aces for Tennessee-Martin and handed out a team-high 25 assists.
Murray State closes out its regular-season schedule at Austin Peay on Saturday at 2 p.m.
