Lady Racers Fall In Championship Game To Missouri

Freshman Ashley Nichole Hayes was named to the all-tournament team with 26 points and 15 rebounds in the two games combined.
Missouri (5-2) led 9-7 before going on a 16-0 run early in the first half, then closed out the first period on a 17-4 run to take a 49-17 halftime lead. The Tigers outscored MSU 51-38 in the second half to secure the win.
Murray State (1-5) was led by junior Ashley Brooke Hayes, who put in 15 points on 5-for-11 shooting from behind the arc. She also had seven rebounds. Ashley Nichole Hayes added 14 and had a game-high 11 rebounds. Amber Guffey had a team-high four assists for Murray State.
Missouri was paced by 20 points from LaToya Bond, who also had five assists and three steals, both game-highs. Carlynn Savant added 19 points, while EeTisha Riddle had 11 points and five assists and Christelle N'Garsanet and Kassie Drew each had 10 points.
Murray State returns home to open its Ohio Valley Conference schedule, beginning Thursday at 3:30 p.m. against Eastern Kentucky.
