Racers beat Iowa State 4-3, fall at Missouri 7-0 in tri-match

The Murray State women's tennis team beat Iowa State 4-3 this afternoon in Columbia, Mo., after falling at Missouri yesterday in a 7-0 match.
Against Iowa State, Murray State (1-2) Anna Lask won at No. 1 singles over Jill Palen 7-5, 6-4, while Jaclyn Leeper won at No. 2 singles over Caitlin Loprinzi 6-2, 6-1 and Rachael Lask won at No. 4 singles over Beth Chermel 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Jennifer Ward fell at No. 3 singles to Danielle Uscinski 6-3, 2-6, 7-6, while Casady Pruitt lost at No. 5 singles to Chrissy Derouin 7-5, 3-6 (10-5 in the tie-breaking game) and Tami McQueen fell at No. 6 singles to Charlotte Ljungkrantz 6-1, 6-4.
In doubles play, the Lasks won at No. 1 doubles over Loprinzi and Palen 9-8 in the eight-game pro set, while Pruitt and Ward won at No. 2 doubles over Chermel and Uscinski 8-3 and Leeper and Whitney Robards won at No. 3 doubles over Derouin and Ljungkrantz 8-6. MSU won the doubles point 3-0.
Against Missouri, in singles play, Anna Lask fell at No. 1 singles to Katka Sevcikova 6-0, 6-3, while Leeper lost at No. 2 singles to Yelena Olshanskaya 7-6, 6-1, and Ward fell at No. 3 singles to Erika Josbena 6-1, 6-2. Rachael Lask lost at No. 4 singles to Lubica Nadassaka 7-5, 6-3, while Pruitt fell at No. 5 singles to Carolyn Kramer 1-6, 7-5 (10-7 in the tie-breaking game) and McQueen lost at No. 6 singles to Charlotte Bellis 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles play, the Lasks fell at No. 1 doubles to Kramer and Sevcikova 8-2 in the eight-game pro set, while Pruitt and Ward lost at No. 2 doubles to Josbena and Olshanskaya 8-6 and Leeper and Whitney Robards fell at No. 3 doubles to Bellis and Nadassaka 9-8. Missouri won the doubles point 3-0.
Murray State will play two games in Nashville, Tenn., on March 1, facing Tennessee-Chattanooga at 10 a.m. and visiting Tennessee State in an Ohio Valley Conference-opening match at 3 p.m.
