Racers shut out TSU 7-0

The Murray State women's tennis team won its Ohio Valley Conference opener at Tennessee State, shutting out the Lady Tigers 7-0 this afternoon.

The Racers (4-3, 1-0 OVC) ceded only one game in all six singles matches and three doubles matches.

Anna Lask won at No. 1 singles over Melaney Whiting 6-0, 6-0, while Jaclyn Leeper won at No. 2 singles over Martina Goldthreate 6-0, 6-0, and Jennifer Ward won at No. 3 singles over Kiamesha Wilson 6-0, 6-0. Casady Pruitt won at No. 4 singles over Martene Faire 6-0, 6-0, while Christina Hall won at No. 5 singles over Charmaine Helms 6-1, 6-0, and Tami McQueen won at No. 6 singles by default.

Lask and Rachael Lask won at No. 1 doubles over Goldthreate and Whiting 8-0 in the eight-game pro set, while Leeper and Whitney Robards won at No.2 doubles over Helms and Wilson 8-0, and Pruitt and Ward won at No. 3 doubles by default.

Murray State next plays at OVC rival Samford on Saturday.
