Racers oust Memphis 6-1

The Murray State women's tennis team rebounded from back-to-back losses to overcome visiting Memphis this afternoon 6-1.
In singles play, Anna Lask won at No. 1 singles over Marlene Dirnstorfer 6-1, 6-1, while Jaclyn Leeper won at No. 2 singles over Andrea Feichtinger 6-1, 6-2, and Jennifer Ward won at No. 3 singles over Kristin Noble 6-1, 2-6, 6-3. Christina Hall won at No. 5 singles over Alex Tjioe 7-6, 6-2, while Whitney Robards won at No. 6 singles over Kathrin Kohl by default. Casady Pruitt fell at No. 4 singles to Christina Wiesel 3-2 (ret.).
In doubles play, Lask and Leeper won at No. 2 doubles over Noble and Tjioe 8-3 in the eight-game pro set, while Robards and Tami McQueen won at No. 3 doubles over Koel and Wiesel by default. Pruitt and Ward fell at No. 1 doubles to Dirnstorfer and Feichtinger 9-7. MSU won the doubles point 2-1.
Murray State returns to Ohio Valley Conference action on Sunday when the Racers (11-6, 6-1 OVC) visit Eastern Illinois for a 2 p.m. match. MSU returns home to complete its regular-season schedule with a Monday match against Austin Peay.
