Gorey places 13th out of 78 at Vanderbilt Commodore Classic

Senior John Gorey finished in 13th place at the 78-runner Vanderbilt Commodore Classic, held Saturday in Nashville, Tenn. Gorey finished the 8-kilometer (5-mile) course in a time of 26 minutes, 26.27 seconds.
Gorey was one of four Murray State runners competing as individuals in the meet.
Junior Anthony Collotti-Brown placed 43rd with a time of 28:10.69, while freshman Mitch Sharber was 45th at 28:25.88 and freshman Tommy Moore was 46th at 28:27.59.
Emory won the team title with 32 points in the six-team event. Host Vanderbilt was second with 49 points, followed by Austin Peay at 58 points, Tennessee Tech at 103, Lipscomb at 121 and Maryville at 190.
Murray State will next compete on Oct. 1 at the UTM Invitational in Martin, Tenn.
