Racers win season-opening dual duel, outshoot Tennessee-Martin 4613-4540

For the Murray State Gold Team, freshman Bryant Wallizer had an aggregate of 1170 out of a possible 1200 -- the highest individual score of the match -- with a 588 out of a possible 600 in the air rifle competition and a 582 out of a possible 600 in the smallbore competition.
Sophomore Cameron Hicks had an aggregate of 1156 with a 582 in smallbore and a 574 in air rifle, while junior Josiah Brooks had an aggregate of 1144 with a 574 in air rifle and a 570 in smallbore. Sophomore Dan Belluzzo had a 580 in smallbore, while senior Alex Culbertson had a 563 in air rifle.
Hicks and Belluzzo each had two perfect 100's in the prone position of smallbore, while Wallizer and Brooks had one 100 in the prone position of smallbore.Hicks also had a perfect 100 in one of his six air rifle targets.
For Murray State Blue, freshman Kevin Withbrodt had an aggregate of 1144, with a 576 in air rifle and a 568 in smallbore. Freshman Erica Meece had an aggregate of 1129, with a 578 in smallbore and a 551 in air rifle, while freshman Dan Taylor had an aggregate of 1103, with a 563 in air rifle and a 540 in smallbore. Culbertson had a 578 in smallbore, while Belluzzo had a 573 in air rifle. Witbrodt had a perfect 100 in the prone position of smallbore.
Shooting individually for MSU, freshman Joe Shane had a 534 in smallbore and a 468 in air rifle for an aggregate of 1002.
"Today's match was a great season-opener for us," said MSU coach Ann Proctor. "The process for qualifying for NCAA championships has changed this year drastically in that our regular-season matches are now factored into the equation. I'm proud of our entire team for their outstanding performances, especially sticking with it all day in the heat!"
For Tennessee-Martin's Mixed Team, Jaymi Collar had an aggregate of 1153 with a 579 in smallbore and a 574 in air rifle. Cassandra Rauch had an aggregate of 1146 with a 581 in smallbore and a 565 in air rifle, while Stacy Loyd had an aggregate of 1121 with a 562 in smallbore and a 559 in air rifle. Carson Kuehn had a 559 in smallbore, while Dan Rebhan had a 561 in air rifle for the UTM Mixed Team.
Collar, Loyd and Keuhn each had a perfect 100 in the prone position of smallbore.
For the Tennessee-Martin Women's Team, Heather Tillson had an aggregate of 1123 with a 560 in smallbore and a 563 in air rifle, while Devra Harvey had an aggregate of 1103 with a 545 in smallbore and a 558 in air rifle. Wrenda Curd had a 553 in smallbore, while Emily Yocum had a 549, and Jennie Fladebo had a 564 in air rifle, while Chandra Braun had a 541.
Curd had a perfect 100 in the prone position of smallbore.
Shooting individually from Tennessee-Martin were Rebhan, who had a 568 in smallbore; Braun, who had a 525 in smallbore; Curd, who had a 562 in air rifle; Brandon Kidd, who had a 558 in air rifle; Kuehn, who had a 552 in air rifle; Kyle Beauchamp, who had a 549 in air rifle; Matt Furr, who had a 553 in smallbore and a 556 in air rifle; and Yocum, who had a 531 in air rifle.
Murray State will next compete at the Ole Miss Invitational in Oxford, Miss., on Oct. 2.
