
MSU Scores First Road Win 70-67 Over Morehead State

With 12:18 left in the half,
The Racers fell behind as many as seven with 10:18 left and then began to find a way back to the lead.
Rob Kennedy came off the bench to provide a spark with an inside basket and a three-pointer to put the Racers ahead 31-29 with 4:00 left.
The Racers pushed the lead to eight when Kennedy hit two free throws with with 1:07 left in the half.
The Racers carried a 39-33 lead into the half thanks to some great defense. MSU limited the Eagles to only one field goal in the final five minutes of the half.
The Racers made up for it from the three-point line where they were 6-7, Holloway and Horton combined to hit all five of their attempts.
Rob Kennedy helped push the Racers to their biggest lead of the game when he scored another three-point play with 14:11 left. His hoop and free throw gave the Racers a 50-40 lead.
The Eagles cut the MSU lead to one with an offensive rebound and putback by Brandon Callahan, the Racers were in front 54-53 with 9:35 left.
MSU pushed to a six point lead on a lay-up by Carter with 8:24 left.
The Eagles tied the game on free throws from Shaun Williams with 3:40 left, but Danero Thomas made a backdoor basket to put the Racers up with 3:13 to go.
Again the Eagles tied the game at 65 with 2:09 before the Racers took the lead for good when Shawn Witherspoon found Kennedy for an easy lay-up with 1:31 left. Morehead missed with 58 seconds left and Carter secured his 11th rebound of the game.
Carter drilled a jumper for a four point MSU lead with 24 seconds left.
Pryor hit two free throws to make it a 69-67 MSU lead with 17.1 left.
The Eagles had two chances to tie with long three-pointers and each missed.
The Racers scored a much needed 70-67 win and improved to 2-1 in the OVC and 4-7 overall.
