
'Breds Fall At Louisville 7-1

The Murray State Thoroughbreds jumped on hosted Louisville with an unearned run in the top of the first inning, but the Cardinals responded with three unearned runs in the bottom of the third, and Louisville pitchers held the ?Breds to three hits en route to the 7-1 Cardinal win.
Tyler Pittman reached base on a two-out error, then scored when Jason Payton hit his first double of the season to put MSU ahead 1-0. The ?Breds were held scoreless for the rest of the game, with Pittman and Chaz Ebert claiming hits for MSU.
Starter Michal Perconte (3-5) took the loss for Murray State, allowing three unearned runs on two hits, striking out two in three innings. Jon Newton came on in the fourth, allowing one run on five hits in three innings. Daniel Calhoun pitched the seventh inning for Murray State, allowing three runs on four hits and walking one, while West Harris pitched the eighth inning, facing the minimum three batters and walking one.
For Louisville (19-27), Trystan Magnuson (4-2) got the win, allowing one unearned run on two hits, striking out six and walking one in six innings. Mike Lynn came on in the seventh inning, allowing one hit in two innings, while Griffin Bailey pitched the ninth inning, facing the minimum three batters and walking one.
Louisville's offense was led by Jorge Castiollo and Pete Rodriguez, who each had three hits. Rodriguez hit a solo home run for the Cardinals in the sixth inning.
In the field, first baseman Brett Wilson had 10 putouts, while third baseman Tyler Owen had five assists. For Louisville, first baseman Castillo had 12 putouts, while shortstop Chris Cates had six assists.
Murray State returns to Reagan Field for its final home series of the season. The ?Breds will host Tennessee-Martin on Saturday with a 1 p.m. double-header.
