Norris Named OVC Defensive Player Of The Week

Junior libero Heather Norris was named the Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and the eighth time in her three-year collegiate career. She is also the defending OVC Defensive Player of the Year.

Norris led the OVC with an average of 7.42 digs per game last week, repelling a season-high-tying 34 digs at Lipscomb on Oct. 9 and a match-high 33 digs against Morehead State on Oct. 12. In the Morehead State match, Norris fought off 12 digs in Game 4 alone, helping the Racers overcome a 20-10 deficit in that match-deciding game to win it 32-30.

Murray State (12-9, 9-2 OVC) makes its annual trek to the state of Alabama this weekend, visiting OVC co-leader Jacksonville State on Friday at 7 p.m. and Samford on Saturday at 6 p.m.
