Murray State's men's tennis team fell to 53rd ranked University of Kentucky, 6-0, today Lexington, Ky. The loss to the Wildcats (10-6) was the fifth this season by the Racers (0-8) to a ranked opponent.
No doubles matches were played.
Kentucky swept all six singles matches, starting with Marcus Sundh's 6-1 and 6-4 win over Hunter Gerlach at No. 2 singles. Jorge Jorge then beat Yuri Pompeu, 6-0 and 7-5, at No. 4 singles. Roman Ogarkov downed Jeff Lester, 6-3 and 6-2, at No. 3 singles.
The Wildcats clinched the match on Bruno Agostinelli's win at No. 1 singles. Agostinelli, the 68th ranked singles player in the nation, took the first set from Dmytro Hryhorash 6-2. The second set went to a tiebreaker, but Agostinelli pulled it out with by a 7-4 score.
The Racers will finish off a three day road trip with a match at Bellarmine University on Monday in Louisville, Ky. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. CT.
