Lollar Named Interim Director, Hicks Captain of MSU Rifle

Director of athletics Allen Ward announced today that Alan Lollar has been named the interim director of rifle, replacing Morgan Hicks, who left to take the head coaching position at the
Lollar has been MSU's head athletic trainer for the past 15 years, has supported the rifle program from an administrative standpoint and has been tournament director when MSU has hosted the NCAA Rifle Championships in the past.
“I appreciate Alan's willingness to serve in this capacity during the 2007-08 season," Ward said. "He has a keen interest in the sport of rifle and will provide the stability and leadership we need as we look to build upon the success of the program."
In addition, Ward also announced that Cameron Hicks, senior from
“Cameron is well-respected by his fellow teammates and will play an important role during the 2007-08 season," Ward said. "As team captain, he will provide leadership to the team members and assist Alan Lollar with the day-to-day operations of the program. Cameron will have a great senior year, I have no doubt.”
Ward also announced that, during this transitional period, he will work to upgrade particular areas of the program in order to maintain the national prominence
“Murray State rifle has a long tradition of being competitive at the national level," he said, "but at this time, there are some areas of the program that require some upgrading to ensure we remain competitive not only in the OVC, but nationally as well.”
Ward's plans include making the necessary facility upgrades required to continue to be eligible to host NCAA championships, as well as attract other teams to
