The Murray State Men's Cross County competed at the Belmont-Vanderbilt Cross Country Opener that was held at Percy Ward Park in Nashville, Tenn.

Andrew Smithson was the Racers best finisher at 74^th with a time of 17:29.

Andrew Beckman placed 78^th with a time of 17:39, while Steve Hart was 86^th with a time of 18:07.

The Racers did not compete in the team competition, but were part of a field of 112 runners on a course of 5,000 meters.

The next event for the MSU cross country team is Saturday, Sept. 8, at the University of Missouri Cross Country Challenge, in Columbia, Mo.
