Racer Soccer Scores 2-1 Victory At Florida International

The Murray State Soccer two-game trip to Florida got off to a great start Friday when the Racers posted a 2-1 win over Florida International in Miami, Fla.

The victory evened the MSU 2007 record at 4-4.

The Racers scored first when senior Jen Nowak kicked in her second goal of the season only 13:18 into the match.

The match stayed that way until the 52nd minute when MSU freshman Katie Wilson added another goal for a 2-1 win, the goal was set up by senior Krista Muilkins.

The goal was also Wilson's second of the season.

Tara Isbell, who got the win in goal held the Panthers until Kassandra Sorzano scored for FIU in the 88th minute, the Racers held on for the win. Isbell made four saves.

The Racers had six shots on the night and three were on goal.

"Team played a better second half and I'm happy with the result,” MSU head coach Beth Acreman said. “We have more we need to work on before OVC play next week, but this is a good win to get for our team.”

The Racers have Saturday off and end their Florida swing with a noon match Sunday in Fort Meyers against Florida Gulf Coast University.
