Murray State had six steals in the first half and shot 48.5 percent (16-for-33) from the field, holding the Lady Govs to 31.3-percent shooting (10-for-32) in the first half.
In the second half, Austin Peay (5-15, 2-9 OVC) chipped away at the Racer lead, getting it below double-digits when April Thomas hit a layup to cut the MSU lead to 51-42 with 9:55 left in regulation, but a 17-0 Murray State run over the next four minutes iced the game.

"We did a great job defensively tonight," said MSU head coach Jody Adams. "Now I know that the bench can come in, and we can keep a lead. We've been looking for them to bring in some production. Austin Peay was very athletic defensively. I thought we did a better job on our rebounding.
"Shaleea Petty played an aggressive game tonight, and when she's aggressive and attacks defensively, we're a different team. We're a different team when we communicate, and we did that for almost 40 minutes. I took her aside and told her, 'You're time's ticking, and you need to leave it all out there.' She knows she's a difference-maker for us. It's in our players' hands at this point. It's not about the adjustments we make any more. Karl Malone once said, 'It's not time to make adjustments; it's time to believe.' That's where we are right now."
Lee had 14 points, going 6-for-9 from the field and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. Guffey also had 14 points, going 4-for-5 from the line, and had four assists and three steals.

James had six rebounds for the Lady Govs, while Ashley Herring and Janay Armstrong had five each.
