Sauer and Guo Earn Player of the Week Honors for the Second Straight Week

For the second straight week, freshmen Kayleah Sauer and Jade Guo have been named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player and Setter of the Week, respectively.

Sauer recorded 5.38 digs per set as the Racers posted a pair of key wins last week to claim third place in the OVC standings. The Louisville, Ky., native is currently third in the OVC with 5.23 digs per set against league opponents. Sauer also helped MSU reclaim the No. 1 spot in the Conference with 18.29 digs per set.

Guo posted over 12 assists per set for the second weekend in a row. She currently sits second in the OVC with 10.42 assists per set. Guo added a team-high five blocks to go along with 15 digs and two service aces in the Racers wins over Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky this weekend.

MSU will finish up the regular season in Racer Arena this weekend. The Racers host Jacksonville State, Friday at 7 p.m. and current league-leader Tennessee Tech, Saturday at 2 p.m. The weekend will be a tribute to the MSU parents and seniors as the parents will be honored before the start of Friday's match and the seniors prior to the battle with Tennessee Tech.

This weekend's matches have also been designated as the Swinging to Eliminate Cancer matches. Donations have been being accepted by Racer players and staff throughout the month. Donations were accepted as a flat amount or a per attack attempt recorded by both teams in both of this weekends matches to help raise funds for the National Brain Tumor Society.
