The Racers saw their four-game win streak snapped as they fell to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
The win for the Morehead State Eagles was the first over the Racers since 2003 after MSU had won the last 11 in the series.
The game saw the Racers trail by as many as 11 in the first half and lead by four in the second half before the outcome was decided.
Falling behind 41-36 at the half, the Racers responded with an 8-2 run to take the lead for the first time in the game at 54-52 on a three-pointer and a driving lay up by Isacc Miles, plus a three-point play from Ivan Aska.
The MSU surge came after a bizarre occurrence that saw Kevin Thomas pick up his fourth foul and then foul out when he was whistled for a technical foul seconds after the call. Once play resumed,
MSU pushed ahead by four points on three different occasions, the last at the 5:31 mark when Matt Fraliex grabbed a long rebound and finished the fast break with a three-pointer for a 73-69 lead.
The Racers lead was gone at the 1:40 mark when Murry made a pair of free throws to put the Eagles back in front 74-73.
