Women's Tennis Blanks Western Kentucky 7-0

The Murray State women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season as it did not drop a set on the way to a 7-0 victory over Western Kentucky Friday evening at the Total Fitness Connection in Bowling Green.
The Racers got off to the quick start in doubles action as Adriana Alvarez and Ashley Pierson raced to an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles. MSU captured the doubles point as the top team of Angela McGahee and Anne Pennington eased their way to an 8-1 victory. MSU swept the doubles action as Lynsay Ottosen and Alexis Webb teamed for an 8-4 victory.
Webb got the Racers started in singles action as she was the first of three players to drop only one game on the day. Webb defeated Carrie True 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 4 spot ,while McGahee followed up wth the identical score at No. 1 singles. Ottosen picked up her first victory of the spring as she defeated Brittany Waiz 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
Pennington continued the victories as she rolled, 6-3, 6-1, at the seond spot and Pierson earned a victory in her first dual match of her career, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 5. Alvarez completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles.
The Racers return to the courts on Feb. 15 at Southern. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
