Bochenek Pulls Out Third-Set Tiebreaker to Secure 4-3 Victory Over SEMO

Sophomore Lynsey Bochenek overcame a slow start to pull out a third-set tiebreak as Murray State defeated Southeast Missouri 4-3 in the conference opener for both teams Monday afternoon in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
After dropping the first set, Bochenek battled back to even the match, before taking the final set to a tiebreak against Julia Masotti at No. 3 singles. In the tiebreak, Bochenek got the advantage early and never looked back in taking the match 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), and clinching the victory for the Racers.
In other singles action, Lyndsay Ottosen won her fifth-straight decision as she handed Elise Nattier a 6-3, 6-1 defeat at No. 5 singles. MSU also got a 6-0, 6-1 victory from Adriana Alvarez at No. 6 singles.
The Redhawks were able to take the remaining three singles matches, including Drew Kristal's 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Anne Pennington at No. 2 singles.
The Racers (6-3, 1-0 OVC) picked up the doubles point as Bochenek and Katelyn Fulcher stormed to an 8-0 victory at the third doubles spot. MSU clinched the point as Angela McGahee and Pennington remained unbeaten in the Spring with an 8-6 victory at the top spot.
MSU returns to action on March 15 as it travels to take on Tennessee Tech. First serve is set for 9 a.m. in Cookeville, Tenn.
