Women's Tennis Defeats Tennessee Tech 5-2

The Murray State women's tennis team improved it's record to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play with a 5-2 victory over Tennessee Tech Monday morning in Cookeville, Tenn. The match was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday, but was pushed back due to inclement weather.
The Racers jumped out to the sweep in doubles as Lynsey Bochenek and Katelyn Fulcher eased to an 8-3 victory at No. 3. Lyndsay Ottosen and Alexis Webb clinched the doubles point with an 8-6 victory at No. 2. Angela McGahee and Anne Pennington improved their record to 9-0 this spring as they defeated Mireia Cano and Kelly Holtzhausen 9-7 at the top spot.
In singles action, Ottosen kept her record perfect at No. 5 singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory. That victory was quicly followed up with a 6-2, 6-2 victory by Adriana Alvarez at No. 6 singles. The Racers clinched the victory as Pennington defeated Cano 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2. Webb gave MSU its fifth point of the day as she pulled out a second-set tiebreak to defeat Kay Ngiam 6-1, 7-6 at No. 4.
The Racers return to the court on March 18 as they travel to face Western Carolina. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
