Women's Tennis Falls at Eastern Kentucky

The Murray State women's tennis team saw its five-match winning streak come to an end as the Racers dropped a 6-1 decision to Eastern Kentucky Saturday afternoon in Richmond.
For just the second time in dual action, the Racers dropped the doubles point. The top duo of Angela McGahee and Anne Pennington had won 15-straight matches before falling 8-4 to Svetlana Pimenova and Alexandra Sitnikova. MSU was able to earn the victory at No. 2 doubles as Lyndsay Ottosen and Alexis Webb came away with an 8-6 victory. EKU took the doubles point with an 8-5 victory at No. 3.
Singles action was very competivie as four of the six matches went three sets. At the top spot, Pimenova outlasted McGahee 7-4 in the third-set tiebreak. At No. 2, Meredith Giles outlasted Pennington 6-2, 2-6, 6-2, while Lynsey Bochenek took the first set at No. 3 before falling 6-3, 2-6, 0-6.
For the second-straight match, Adriana Alvarez went above and beyond as she outlasted Vera Himeroth 7-6, 3-6, 13-11. Alvarez tok the third set 15-13 the day before against Morehead State.
The Racers return to the court on April 1 as they play host to UT Martin.
