Men's Tennis Falls to Southern Illinois

The Murray State men's tennis team dropped to 0-5 on the season after a 6-1 loss to Southern Illinois Wednesday afternoon at the Kenlake Tennis Center.
The Racers lone victory came at No. 3 singles as senior Chris Horton came away with a hard-fought 6-7, 7-6, 10-8 victory over Mariano Restrepo. Fellow senior Hunter Gerlach was also locked in a three-set match against Hugo Vidal at No. 2 singles before falling 4-6, 6-3, 2-6.
The Salukis (5-3) earned the doubles point as they swept all three doubles matches. SIU was able to come away with an 8-4 decision at the No. 3 spot before clinching the point with an 8-5 decision at No. 1. The duo of Nickolas Ksiezopolski and Yuri Pompeu were locked in a battle at No. 2, but fell 8-6.
SIU was able to clinch the match as they swept through the matches at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 singles.
The Racers return to the court on March 15 as they open up Ohio Valley Conference play against Tennessee Tech. First serve is set for 9 a.m. in Cookeville.
