
Calhoun Pitches 'Breds to 3-1 Victory

Murray State left hander Daniel Calhoun allowed just one unearned runs in the complete-game effort as Murray State evened the series with Morehead State with a 3-1 victory in the second game of the doubleheader at Reagan Field.
Calhoun (4-2) allowed five hits and struck out four, while only walking one over the seven innings.
The 'Breds (15-22, 6-10 OVC) jumped out quickly in the second game as Matt Hon started two-run rally in the second inning with a one-out single through the right side. Taylor Thieke followed with a double down the right-field line and Elliot Frey drove in the first run with a single over the head of the second baseman. Evan Pettit followed with a run-producing single over the head of the first baseman.
MSU added another run in the third as Wes Cunningham and Tyler Owen started things with back-to-back base hits. After a successful sacrifice bunt off the bat of Hon, Thieke drove in a run with a fielder's choice.
The Eagles (16-24, 6-11 OVC) got an unearned run in the top of the fifth as Michael Fear delivered a one-out single and later scored on a fielding error off the bat of Eric Allen.
Cunningham led the offense by going 2-for-3 and finished the doubleheader by going 5-for-6 with a pair of walks.
The two teams will close out the three-game series tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
