Women's Tennis Loses a Heartbreaker, 4-3 to Jacksonville State

The Murray State women's tennis team bounced back from a Friday night loss to battle one of the Ohio Valley Conference's best in Jacksonville State but lost in a tight match, 4-3 at Purcell Courts today.
Murray State (11-6, 5-3 OVC) won the doubles flight, with Lyndsay Ottosen and Alexis Webb defeating JSU's Eloah Lopes and Kimberly Ferris, 8-5 at No. 2, and the team of Lynsey Bochenek and Katelyn Fulcher defeating Babette Lombardo and Kristen Fuller at No. 3, 8-6. At No. 1, JSU's Viviane Marani and Martina Dessebessell took down Murray State's Angela McGahee and Anne Pennington, 8-5.
At No. 1 in singles action, Marani defeated McGahee, 6-2, 6-0, whilePennington beat Dessebessell 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2. Jacksonville State (9-9, 6-1 OVC) then took the next three matches, with Ferris defeating Bochenek 6-3, 6-3, at No. 3, Julianna Renesto taking Webb 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4, and Lopes defeating Ottosen, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 5. By the time Alvarez had downed Fuller 6-4, 2-6, 10-6 at No. 6, it was too late for Murray State to pick up the match victory.
The women's next match is Tuesday, April 8 at Austin Peay at 2:30.
