Women?s Tennis Battles at Alabama Fall Classic

The Murray State women's tennis team battled some tough competition over the weekend at the Alabama Fall Classic.
Senior Adriana Alvarez was one of four players to earn singles victories as she rallied from one-set down to defeat Katie Barnhill of Tennessee Tech, 3-6, 6-2, 10-6.
Sophomore Alexis Webb won her final singles match of the weekend as she handed UNC-Charlotte's Julia Junker a 6-3, 6-0 defeat. Fellow sophomore Katelyn Fulcher started the weekend with a 6-2, 6-1 victory of Elizabeth Hall of Mississippi State.
Freshman Cassidy Cunitz earned her singles victory against Lindsay Dvorak of Tulane. The two battled in a first-set tiebreak before Cunitz prevailed 15-13. She would take the momentum into the second set to take it 6-1.
In doubles action, Fulcher and Lynsey Bochenek teamed up for an 8-4 victory after a duo from UNCC, while Alvarez and Lyndsay Ottosen picked up an 8-4 victory against Tulane.
The Racers return to the court on Oct. 18 as they participate in the Racer Fall Classic at the Purcell Courts.
