Meyer Paces MSU Rifle At TTU Event

The Murray State Rifle squad turned in a second place finish at the Newkirk Invitational at Tennessee Tech in
The Racers finished second in the four-team field with a final score of 4549, just behind the winner
MSU finished ahead of third place
“Once again we had shooters competing hard and working to get better on match day,” MSU Head Coach
Alan Lollar said. “Kasey Meyer shot a fine aggregate score, the best of his college career, with a 579 smallbore and a 586 air rifle."
“Ashley Rose once again bettered a previous best with a 579 air rifle score and shot a solid 564 smallbore,” Lollar said.
Indeed, the Racers put together a good effort at the TTU meet.
In the smallbore competition MSU was led by Kasey Meyer at 579, while Erica Meece fired a 560, and Ashley Rose came in with a 564. Apryl Meares finished with a 556.
In the air rifle Meyer again was the best for MSU with a 586, with Meece shooting a 568, Rose had a 579, and Meares carded a 557.
“I'm pleased with the effort from both Kasey and Ashley, they are peaking at a good time,” Lollar said.
The MSU squad has times ahead, with the UT Martin Invitational Thursday and MSU's Withrow Invitational on Jan. 30.
The OVC Championships at Tennessee Tech are just around the corner on Feb. 7.
