Women's Tennis Finishes Successful Weekend at Belmont Invitational

The Murray State Women's tennis team turned in a successful weekend at the Belmont Invitaional in Nashville, Tenn.
The Racers finished 9-9 overall in singles matches as Alexis Webb led the way going 3-0. She dropped the first set in each of her three matches, but was able to battle back to take the final two sets in each match. Ashley Canty dropped her first match of the tournament, but fought back and won her final two matches in straight-sets. Cassidy Cunitz was the third Racer to come away with multiple victories this weekend, as she defeated Belmont's Laura Stack in straight-sets, 6-3,6-2, and Bowling Green's Sam Kintzel, 6-2, 5-7, 10-3.
In doubles play, MSU finished 3-5 overall. Lyndsay Ottosen and Cunitz paired up and went 2-1 during the tournament as they defeated Belmont's Stack and Leatherwood, 8-3, and Belmont's Holliday and Hogan, 9-7. Also picking up a victory for the Racers was the tandum of Webb and Canty.
The Racers will return to the court Friday, Oct. 30, as they participate in the Kennesaw State Invitational in Kennesaw, Ga.
