
Racer Rifle Wins JSU Event

The Racers won the smallbore event with a 2281 score and posted a win in the air rifle at 2315 for a total of 4596 and a 32-shot victory over Memphis.
MSU head coach Alan Lollar was pleased to get a big win away from home.
"We are always pleased to be able to win on the road," Lollar said. "The Gamecock Invitational is a great match and JSU and Coach Frost do a fine job hosting."
The Racers earned places three through six in a field of 39 competitors in the smallbore competition.
Kaitlin Cleven, Kasey Meyer and Emily Quiner all shared third place at 571, with teammate Ashley Rose posting a 568 for a spot in sixth.
MSU's Quiner was third in the air rifle at 584, while Daniel Sojka posted a 580 for a spot in eighth in a field of 48 entries. Meyer was in ninth place at 579, while Cleven was 16th at 572.
Other MSU individuals included Caroline Barber in 10th at 577 in air rifle and she had a 541 in smallbore
"We will be working to finish off the semester good academically," Lollar added. "We are looking forward to enjoying the holiday break, working on a few areas while at home and returning ready to shoot the way we are capable of."
Lollar added his team has put in good work this fall and are in good position heading into the spring portion of the season that may lead to an Ohio Valley Conference championship and advancement to the NCAA's.
"We once again shot consistently," Lollar added. "We just need to raise that level when we come back after Christmas."
The Racers' next event is Jan. 16 at home against Mississippi.
