Women's Tennis Rolls in OVC Opener

The Murray State women's tennis team eased its way to a 7-0 shutout victory over Tennessee State Thursday afternoon at the Hadley Park Bubble in Nashville, Tenn. The victory improved MSU to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in Ohio Valley Conference action.
The Racers won the doubles point for the seventh time in eight matches as Angela McGahee and Anne Penningtonrolled to an 8-4 victory at No. 1. Lyndsay Ottosen and Adriana Alvarez had the easiest time as they blanked the Tigers at No. 2. Katelyn Fulcher and Lynsey Bochenek had almost as easy a time as they captured an 8-1 victory at No. 3.
Alexis Webb and Ottosen pushed the Racers closer to victory as they came away with 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Cassidy Cunitz lost just one game on her way to a victory at No. 2. Pennington, Alvarez and Ashley Pierson all rolled to straight-set victories.
The Racers return to the court tomorrow afternoon with a 1 p.m. match at Jacksonville State.
