Kasey Meyer Earns NRA All-American Honors

Murray State junior Kasey Meyer was recently named National Rifle Association All-American for his outstanding 08-09 year in the smallbore rifle.

“I'm happy to receive this award,” Meyer said. “I want to thank Murray State for the opportunity to compete.”

“I tried as hard as I could this season and I'm happy with the way it turned out.”

Meyer, from Quincy, Ill., was one of the top shooters in the NCAA with an average of 574.92 out of a possible 600 this season in smallbore.

He also earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors this past season.

“We are extremely proud of the year Kasey had,” MSU Rifle Head Coach Alan Lollar. “His smallbore average was up nearly 15 points from his sophomore season, and you can only make that kind of improvement with hard work and dedication. Kasey has shown the qualities needed to shoot at the highest level and his senior year should be his best yet.”

Meyer's next challenge is in the USA Shooting National Championships in June at Fort Benning, Ga.
