Women?s Tennis Blanks SIU Edwardsville

The Murray State women's tennis team got back to its winning ways Saturday with a 7-0 blanking of a shorthanded SIU Edwardsville team at the Purcell Courts.

The Racers (5-2) captured the doubles point as Adriana Alvarez and Lyndsay Ottosen won 8-4 at No. 1, and Lynsey Bochenek and Katelyn Fulcher won 8-2 at No. 2. Cassidy Cunitz and Alexis Webb won by default at No. 3.

With only four players, SIUE could not fill all six singles spots and thus, Katelyn Fulcher and Adriana Alvarez won their matches by default at No. 5 and 6, respectively.

Ottosen kept the winning going in singles action with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3. Cunitz followed suit with a 6-1, 6-1 victory of her own at No. 2.

Ashley Pierson played her first match at No. 4 and responded with a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Anne Pennington completed the sweep with a 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 1.

The Racers return to the court March 12 as they open Ohio Valley Conference action at Tennessee State.
