Racer Rifle Freshman Claims American Legion Title

Murray State Rifle freshman Emily Quiner, a native of Brooklyn Park, Minn., won the 2009 American Legion Junior Air Rifle National Championship in Colorado Springs, Col.

The American Legion Junior Shooting Sports Program is a three-part event that combines a basic marksmanship course, qualification awards, and air rifle competition.

The precision air rifle class competed in four 3X20 courses of fire plus an individual final for the top eight shooters.

"Emily did a great job competing against tough competition this summer," MSU Head Coach Alan Lollar said. "Her work ethic and drive are amazing. I think she will fit nicely into the kind of program we are building."

The MSU Rifle team opens the 2009-10 season Sep. 26 with a shoulder-to-shoulder at UT Martin.
