The Murray State Rifle team scored another win Sunday when they defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers at the Pat Spurgin Range in Roy Stewart Stadium, in Murray, Ky.
The win capped off a successful home stand as the Racers were coming off a Saturday win over Ole Miss.
Leading the way for the Racers in smallbore was Kasey Meyer with a 580, while Emily Quiner and Daniel Sojka each added 575 and Ashley Rose carded a 552.
It was the second straight day the Racers shot a smallbore score of 2282.
In air rifle, Quiner led the way with a 590, with Daniel Sojka at 586, Kasey Meyer at 585 and Caroline Barber at 575. MSU's 2336 was their second best air rifle score in the 2009-10 season.
Kaitlin Cleven and Harley Jette each posted good scores in smallbore with a 573 and 571.
"This was a very important weekend for us because it was time to show up and compete," MSU head coach Alan Lollar said. "We were able to do that two days in a row, against good teams. We have a lot of respect for both Ole Miss and Nebraska because they have solid programs to measure ourselves. "
Lollar said his team has raised its level of expectation since the fall.
"This weekend was another step in the journey to where we are trying to take this program and that's learning to compete at a high level," he said. "This young team is maturing quickly and I can't say enough about their effort and determination."
The Racers' next challenge is the Tennessee Tech Newkirk Invitational on Saturday in Cookeville, Tenn.
