Racers Face Reinhardt Before Thanksgiving Trip To 76 Classic

The Murray State Racers are back at home in the CFSB Center Saturday at 7 p.m. for the third game of the 2010-11 season when they host the Reinhardt Eagles. The meeting against Reinhardt is the first for the Racers. MSU will be looking to extend their 20-game home winning streak.
Wednesday the Racers dropped their first loss of the season in a 77-61 setback to Mississippi at the Tad Smith Coliseum in Oxford, Miss. The Racers (1-1) started the game in fine fashion and held a 12-6 lead with 10:16 before half, but saw Ole Miss come back to take the lead for good at 6:27 with a 15-14 lead. The Rebels (2-0) pushed it to a 34-23 lead at halftime. MSU managed to cut the Rebels' lead to seven with 16:32 remaining, but never got any closer. Isaiah Canaan, returning to his home state, led MSU with 15 points, with most coming on the strength of 4-6 shooting from three-point range. Donte Poole came off the bench for a second straight game to score in double-figures with 12. Jeffery McClain added 11 points and was 7-8 from the free throw line.

FRIENDLY CONFINES: MSU posted their 21st straight win in home openers (Nov. 15) when they took down East Tennessee State 50-39 which was their 13th straight win for a home opener in the CSFB Center since the building opened in 1998. As the Racers play Reinhardt, MSU's home-court winning streak stands at 20 which ties MSU with Kentucky for the fifth-best streak in the nation. Kansas continues to be the leader with an amazing 61 straight wins, while Siena is second with 39 straight and Xavier has 26 ina row. The Racers are 42-4 in the CFSB Center in the last three seasons.
ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE: Murray State Athletics will begin its annual food drive with the Racers' final football game Saturday and continuing Saturday night with Reinhardt. Fans are asked to bring non-perishable items to the CFSB Center where there will be drop areas. The annual food drive benefits the Murray-Calloway Need Line and the food drive is also a competition between the teams at MSU to see who can bring in the most food. If fans cannot bring Items to the CFSB Center, they can bring them to Stewart Stadium. The Dec. 15 game with Bethel fwill be the final game of the food drive.
SCOUTING REINHARDT: The Eagles played at Georgia Southern Thursday in an exhibition game and came away with a 101-84 loss. Eagles forward David Lawson scored 25 points on 10-15 shooting and hauled in eight rebounds. The Eagles forced Georgia Southern into 19 turnovers, but also committed 19 give-aways. Reinhardt trailed 51-44 at the half. Prior to that, Reinhardt had a road loss to Shorter by a 92-74 score. The Eagles' two wins have come against Johnson & Wales 93-34 and Southern Virginia 80-77.

The ESPN family of networks will broadcast all 12 games of the event which has a bracket-tournament format.

Murray State's first game with Stanford will be carried by ESPNU when they meet for the first time.
The 76 Classic features a strong field with three teams that competed in the NCAA Tournament last spring, including the Racers (Ohio Valley), Oklahoma State (Big-12) and UNLV (Mountain West). Two teams, Tulsa (Conference USA) and Virginia Tech (ACC) appeared in the NIT. Cal-Northridge (Big West), DePaul (Big East) and Stanford (Pac-10) make up the rest of the field.
The Big West Conference again will serve as the host for the 76 Classic at the 7,500-seat Anaheim Convention Center, which has served the conference for the past nine years as the site of its postseason tournament.
