Racers Push To 14-0 In OVC - 94-62 Over Tech

The Murray State Racers moved their winning streak to 14 Thursday with a 94-62 victory against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles at the Eblen Center in Cookeville, Tenn.
The Racers, 23-3 overall and 14-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference, have also won 21 consecutive conference regular season games and seven straight away from home.
With MSU leading by 11 at halftime, Tech made a run and cut MSU's lead to nine at 46-37 with 16:04 remaining.
The Racers hit the gas pedal and saw B.J. Jenkins score nine straight points, including a three-pointer for a 15-point lead. By the time MSU was finished with its outburst, they had a 61-41 lead with 12:30 left.
Jenkins led 11 Racers in the scoring column with a career-high 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
Tony Easley scored 11 points, while MSU had 10 from Isacc Miles and a career-high for Ed Daniels with 10.
The Racers won the battle of the boards 32-25 and played the second half with only two turnovers.
With the upset by Eastern Illinois over Morehead State Thursday night, Murray State can now clinch a tie for the OVC regular season title Saturday when they play at Jacksonville State in a 4:30 p.m. game at Mathews Coliseum in Jacksonville, Ala.
GAME NOTES
MSU has the nation's second longest win streak behind only Siena who has won 15 in a row.
MSU's 14-game streak is only two off the all-time program record of 16, set twice under MSU's first coach Carlisle Cuthcin in the late 1930's.
MSU is one of six teams that are undefeated in league play. The others are: Butler (Horizon), Siena (Metro Atlantic), Morgan State (MEAC), Kansas (Big-12) and Cornell (Ivy).
The Racers travel to JSU Saturday in a 4:30 p.m. game that will air on the Racer Television Network. The RTVN is available to all subscribers of NewWave Communications, Mediacom and Comcast.
MSU returns home Tuesday to host Southeast Missouri State in a 7 p.m. game.
